Can dogs eat pumpkin?
Why
Pure pumpkin is low in fat, high in fiber, and rich in vitamins A, E, and C plus potassium and iron. With a vet's approval, plain pumpkin puree is often used as a home remedy for both diarrhea and constipation. Only 100 percent pure pumpkin should be used, never pumpkin pie or canned pie mix, which can contain spices, sugar, dairy, and even xylitol.
How much is safe
About 1 to 4 tablespoons of pure, plain pumpkin puree added to a meal, starting small; confirm the amount with your veterinarian.
