Can dogs eat tofu?
Why
Plain tofu is not toxic and can be given as an occasional snack, but it lacks enough protein to meet a dog's needs. Large amounts of soy can cause gas and gastrointestinal upset, and tofu is high in silicate, which may increase the risk of kidney stones. Dogs with soy allergies or a history of bloat should avoid it.
How much is safe
Offer only plain, unsalted tofu in small amounts occasionally, prepared without onion, garlic, or seasonings.
Warning signs to watch for
Large amounts may cause gas, bloating, and gastrointestinal upset, and could contribute to kidney stones over time.
